What a “later in life” LGBTQ person wants you to know

Looking back, it seems we knew all along, but until our true self felt safe enough to show up, we had no idea.

As a child in the early 80s, I was taught that anyone in the LGBTQ community, but gay people in particular, were an abomination unto God. The God I was told loved me and died for me was the same God who would send all the “homosexuals” to hell where they belonged. See, while we were all sinners, LGBTQ people had something extra wrong with them and could never be accepted by God or by the Evangelical Church.
